Jesse Partridge: Who He Was

Jesse Partridge was born in Holliston, Massachusetts to Preserved Partridge and Katherine Strong. Later his family (10 children) moved to what is now Portland/Falmouth (Stroudwater area).

Before building this house, he held roles in the community: lumber surveying, fire ward, hog reeve.

He served during the Revolutionary War: in 1778 he led a militia force of 50 men from Falmouth to join Col. John Greaton’s 3rd Massachusetts Regiment on the Hudson.

After the war, he invested in land, shipping/mast trade, and operated a store.
